The Roots of Jardin Scullion
In 1985, Brian Scullion, a passionate adventurer and entrepreneur, took a leap of faith when he acquired a piece of abandoned land in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. What began as a dream turned into a flourishing reality.
Brian, alongside his wife Josée Fortin, transformed the land into what is now one of the region's most cherished destinations: Jardin Scullion.
Initially a nursery specialising in ornamental plants, their vision grew far beyond its humble beginnings. In 1999, they opened Jardin Scullion to the public—a place where visitors could experience the beauty of nature up close. Today, the garden has become a beacon of tourism and horticultural excellence, known not just within Québéc, but across the globe.
A Foundation for the Earth and the Community
Brian and Josée’s journey goes far beyond horticulture — it’s a labor of love, fuelled by their deep connection to the land and their love for nature. In 2001, the couple founded the Jardin Scullion Foundation, a non-profit organisation that reflects their desire to give back to the region they cherish so much.
Over the years, their work has created 30 jobs, helping to support the local community and economy.
The foundation plays a key role in environmental awareness and inspires visitors to appreciate the beauty and importance of nature. Whether through workshops, guided tours, or support for local initiatives, the foundation ensures that Jardin Scullion’s impact goes far beyond its stunning landscapes.
A Life of Adventure and Creativity
Together, Brian and Josée have always shared a love for adventure and creativity. Because the garden operates for only half of the year, they have spent winters traveling, exploring new landscapes and cultures to find fresh inspiration for their work. From hiking in the Canadian Rockies to visiting botanical gardens in Europe and North America, each adventure added a spark to their vision for Jardin Scullion.
Their son Daniel grew up between Mexico and Canada, immersed in the rhythms of garden life from a young age. Over the years, he became deeply involved in the family business — learning, working, and eventually stepping into a leadership role. His experiences, both at home and abroad, helped him gain a deep appreciation for what his parents built.
Laurie and Livia, Daniel’s sisters, remain an important part of the family story. Their connection to Jardin Scullion — as family and as supporters — reflects the enduring spirit of love and unity that has helped the garden flourish over four decades.
An Ever-Growing Legacy
Daniel, the youngest child of Brian and Josée, is set to become the future owner of Jardin Scullion. With lifelong knowledge and a deep commitment to the family mission, he is preparing to take over the garden — making sure it remains a welcoming place where nature continues to thrive. His goal is simple: preserve the soul of Jardin Scullion while bringing a modern, sustainable vision to its future.
At the heart of this success is an exceptional team of skilled and loyal members — some with over 25 years of service — who bring expertise, passion, and dedication every day. Their commitment to outstanding service and sustainable practices makes Jardin Scullion much more than a family business: it’s a true community project.
Jardin Scullion is recognised by the well-known Ulysse Guide as one of the 150 most beautiful gardens in the world. As a growing legacy, it continues to evolve and change.
We warmly invite you to come and visit this special place.
